The long-standing debate between natural and organic skincare products is here again. In this quest to treat your skin to flawless victory, who is your soldier?
Even though both terms differ, Natural and Organic Skincare products are often used interchangeably. For instance, Organic skincare products must contain at least 80-95% natural ingredients. However, Natural skincare products, have no set rules.
So, Natural or Organic skincare? Let’s talk about the best choice to make for your skin.
What are Natural Skincare products?
The term, ‘Natural skincare’ is all the rave, and the beauty stores know it! Everyone is going crazy about this new wave of cruelty-free and vegan products that are seemingly safer for the skin. More brands are adopting terms like, ‘plant-based,’ ‘non-toxic,’ and ‘non-synthetic,’ in the assurance of a safer alternative to what you’re used to.
What those brands won’t tell you is how loosely the word “natural” is used here. The term may suggest that the product is made from 100% natural ingredients, but this is hardly the case. So, the fact that a product is termed ‘natural’ does not necessarily mean that it is.
Thus, the term, ‘Natural skincare products’ is what I like to refer as a brand magnet.
So, what are Organic skincare products?
Unlike ‘Natural,’ the term ‘organic’ is more defined. It consists of skincare products made with 80-95% chemical-free ingredients. While organic skincare products are mostly made with cruelty-free and vegan ingredients, the key component is that these ingredients are grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
Therefore, if a product is certified organic, then expect at least 80-95% all-natural ingredients and at least 95% active ingredients.
What then is the better choice?
Time and time again, it has been proven that certified organic skincare products are way more effective. Also, you can be certain that it is made with natural ingredients that were grown without synthetic help.
However, don’t buy a product simply because it says it’s organic. Scrutinize the ingredients and be sure that they are great for your skin!
Remember: a huge percentage of what goes on your skin gets into your bloodstream. So, the next time you visit a beauty store, make the healthy choice!
