I’ve loved Wande Coal since I was a kid (which gets you curious about how old I am, right?) and although he keeps his personal life private, his music makes me feel like I know him.

King Coal has been serving us premium music content since 2006 when he got signed to Mo’Hits Records alongside Dr Sid, D’Prince and K Switch. From the classic, You Bad and Taboo from his first body of work, Mushin to Mo’Hits to Kiss Your Hand with Ghana’s R2Bees. Remember  Amorawa featuring Burna Boy from his second album, Wanted? More recently is So Mi So and the latest single, Again.

My fangirling intensified after I watched his London tour on Sound City. To round up the night’s performance, he did a highly spiritual rendition of his latest song at the time So Mi So. There was no music playing in the background: just a live band, the crowd cheering and Wande Coal doing his thing.

Now, Wande Coal is back with his biggest project since Wanted in 2015, The Realms  EP.

On the 11th of September 2020, Wande Coal released his 7-track EP titled Realms. The EP was so distinctly named that couldn’t wait to digest the work. in, ready for adventure, ready to explore.

Inside the Realms

Again does not only feel familiar because it has since been enjoying massive airplay, but it is also the classic Wande sound. It ends quickly, something characteristic of songs these days, so we are tempted to replay it but we must move forward, continue to savour.

With Check, it is pure chill vibes. He picks up the pace with Naughty Girl, and we’re grooving again. This tempo is maintained in Ode Lo Like, another club banger.

In Vex featuring Sarz, he advises his fans not to care about what people think because eventually, each will be to his own. Do what makes you happy, Coal preached.

Then, Again, again. What better way to round of an EP than with a remix of the winning track, Again?  This one features American rapper, Wale, whose vibe on this song is contagious.
