Extended exposure to the sun can not only affect but also damage the skin.
We all love the warm weather, but your skin cannot afford to have too much sun. Prolonged exposure to this heat, be it in our daily commute or by relaxing on the beach, can give us sunburn.
Not to worry, though; some natural products will help you treat sunburn in these cases.
1. Plain yoghurt
The probiotics in plain yoghurt have very potent healing properties. Apply yoghurt on the burned areas and wait until your skin absorbs it. Repeat till it stops absorbing. Then, wash your body with cold water and apply a body moisturizer.
2. Soak in oats
In your bathtub, soak your body in cold water with oats. Oatmeal is not only a breakfast thing but can soothe your skin as well. Do this for 15 minutes, then air-dry yourself.
3. Soak in baking soda
Add baking soda into cold bath water and soak for 15-20 minutes. Baking soda is known for its many healing properties. You can also choose to mix with oats.
4. White vinegar
Add a cup of white vinegar into your bath. Soak for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water. Vinegar contains acetic acid, a component that relieves the pain of sunburn.
5. Aloe Vera
Who doesn’t love Aloe Vera? The healing properties of this plant are incredibly powerful. Just cut one leaf, wash and cut in the middle to sweep the gel. Apply it to the painful spots of your body. After 20 minutes, you will feel like you have new, regenerated skin.
