Off the 15-track “Twice as Tall” album, Burna Boy drops a new visual for the revolution song “Monsters You Made” featuring Chris Martin.
Twice As Tall, is arguably one of the best albums to have dropped this year. And just two weeks after its release, we have a video for the track “Monsters You Made“.
The visual shows Burna as the leader of an army of resolved soldiers. The soldiers having watched some stirring events commenced an austere training in a fight against injustice.
The theme of the video together with Burna’s profound lyrics makes one sense a characteristic, intense tone. Burna speaks of the selfishness and wantonness of the people in power, the oppression endured by the masses, the brain-washed educational system, and the inequality that invariably leads to trauma, violence, and revolt against the government.
“I think I started to write this over the lockdown when a lot was and is still happening, I think I’d just watched some fucked up sh*t and that was what switched up my mood. People need to understand what’s actually happened in Rivers, which is my home state in Nigeria. It’s like someone digging up under your house, taking what they want that may be valuable to them. But they have destroyed your home, now it’s unsafe and now no longer home to you again. The environmental situation has been going on for years and years and no one is helping, but then people will only hear about the pipe bombing or kidnappings. They should understand that it’s never just that one side to the story and that everything has a root cause.“ – Burna Boy
