Being productive can be so difficult for so many reasons. Often times, we leave tasks undone because collectively, they seem gargantuan, overwhelming and almost impossible to complete. As a result, we tend to shelve them for later, which sometimes can mean, Never.

Now. Imagine this:  You have written down a to-do list for the day. There are eight tasks on there, you then really look at it and go, “Oh no, how do I do all this in a day?”

You start overthinking and panicking without actually starting to do any one of them. Overthinking can be really debilitating on one’s brain. It amplifies your mental stress and leaves you useless. Overthinking yields no results when dealing with practical things like doing tasks.

Here are 3 things you can do to stay productive daily.

1. Group the tasks on your to-do list.

Write your to-do list in manners of priority. For instance: You can have three categories: High, Mid, and low. Beside each task, estimate how long it will take in hours. Begin your day tackling each task according to their priority. However, if a low-priority task takes you just a few minutes to do, spare some time in between high-priority tasks to accomplish that.

2. Avoid procrastination.

Procrastination happens when you start thinking: I can do this later. Learn to pick up a task and run with it, starving your distractions along the way. Spare some moments to reward yourself with a nap or some Netflix, but don’t be too long. Remember: You are trying to get things done and the first step is to stop procrastinating.

3. Don’t think, just do.

Remember that you can only finish a task if you start it. Learn to stop letting thoughts overwhelming and master the act of doing instead. Not only is this a sure way to be productive, but the results will also make you feel much better about yourself.

P.S: It’s okay not to tick all the boxes in your to-do list. However, it is important that you do as much as you can, putting priorities first and having more productive days.

So, which choice are you making today? The easy choice for the hard life or the hard life for the easy choice?
