Computer eye strain mostly affects people who spend a huge amount of time staring at their computer screens.
The eyes become dry or tired as a result of active eye movements for an extended period, adjusting to various shades of the screen.
Although it causes discomfort, eye strain is not permanent. So, here are 6 tips to relieve computer eye strain.
Drink Water
Dehydration affects the whole body, including the eyes, and drinking a sufficient amount of water can let you avoid dry eyes. A person is expected to drink eight glasses of water a day.
Take Breaks
Take breaks throughout the day. Scheduling time away from your laptop gives your eyes and even your mind a chance to relax. Get up from your desk and move around.
Blink
Every time we blink, we cover our eyes in a layer of tear-film that keeps them moisturized. Make it a habit to blink more often and sometimes just close your eyes completely to relax your eye muscles.
Computer Position
When working, try positioning your screen at about an arm’s length from your face. A screen that is too close can cause eye strains.
Sleep
Sleep refreshes the eyes with nutrients and tears which are necessary for healthy eyes and a lack of it can cause eye fatigue during the day. So, try to sleep more often.
General Lighting
The lighting of your working space also matters on your eye health. Your screen should be facing away from windows or any bright light source. Reflections can make you squint and cause eye fatigue.
If the eye strain persists after trying everything, you may want to set an appointment with your ophthalmologist.
