The Mayor of Lagos and Baddest on this one! Nigerian Afro-Pop star, Mayorkun aka Mayor of Lagos, returns with a dang in this single titled, “Betty Butter“. He features DMW superstar, Davido (Oshey Baddest!) who, of course, killed it.
The new banger arrived shortly after Mayorkun’s massive hit single and visual for ‘Of Lagos‘ released in April.
The last time we had these two on a song was on ‘Bobo’. Released in 2018. Produced and mixed by ace producer, Ty Mix. Mayorkun’s “Bobo” with Davido as a guest artist at the time of its release was quite an explosive hit. The music video now has almost 15 million YouTube views.
‘Betty Butter’ is a mid-tempo Afro-fusion track with lots of word-plays and infectious Lamba (a Nigerian slang for flattery). It is sure that this would soon be the rhymes on most peoples mouths.
Mayor had the melody on hook, introduced the track with his new loved Bop calm vibe, and Davido on the other hand perfected his imprints (vocal signature, back up notes, and catchy keys).
After sharing the video snippet to the new tune alongside the audio, Mayorkun premieres the official video of “Betty Butter” featuring Davido on YouTube. You got to trust the visuals are dead-dripping in HD.
On this record, the singers were asking for a lady’s heart and trust. Mayorkun was the first to approach the lady. He wired her money in thousands of dollars. The lady later shunned him saying she doesn’t do artists.
Davido tried his luck too. He lets her know he is not a banker but he will spray her dollars. He also sent her raw cash transfer only to be met with an “I don’t go out with strangers” response. Eventually, this lady that seemed too hard to get was actually dating one who calls these artistes “boss”.
