Refiloe Maele Phoolo, popularly known as Cassper Nyovest, is a South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and record producer.

1. Cassper Nyovest was born on 16 December 1990 in Mahikeng, South Africa.
2. He started rapping at the age of 12.
3. Nyovest rose to fame with his debut studio album, Tsholofelo in 2014. Tsholofelo featured his first 2 hit singles ’Gusheshe” (2013) and “Doc Shebeleza” (2014).
4. He has a thing for family names. Nyovest’s debut album, Tsholofelo, is named after his youngest sister. His second, Refiloe, was named after himself. His third studio album, Thuto, was named after his other sister.
5. In October 2014, Nyovest was ranked 1st on the MTV Base show, The Hottest MC in Africa, and was 2nd on MTV SA’s Hottest MCs the same year.
6. Nyovest founded his record label Family Tree Records in 2014
7. He was nominated at the 12th Nigerian Headies Award for Best African Artiste alongside Nasty C, Ghanaian Sarkodie, Kenyan group Sauti Sol, and Tanzanian Vanessa Mdee.
