More than a brand. It’s a bridge.
A global Afrourban marketplace curating the best of Black & African creativity — in fashion, beauty, art, and lifestyle.
BIDHAAR is a global Afrourban marketplace curating the best of Black and African creativity — fashion, beauty, art, design, and lifestyle.
Founded by Mariam Tijani, BIDHAAR exists to reclaim narrative, celebrate cultural identity, and elevate African-made brands on the world stage. We champion Black excellence and diasporic brilliance through a lens of intentional curation, cultural authenticity, and commerce rooted in community.
BIDHAAR began with a mission: to reclaim narrative, reframe taste, and reintroduce Africa to the world — beautifully, consciously, and globally.
Rooted in Abeokuta, Nigeria, and raised across the UK — from St. Leonards-on-Sea to Northampton to London — our founder, Mariam Tijani, grew up navigating identity, culture, and representation. From rocking Ankara in school to launching Afrocentrique London (ACL) in her teens, her life’s work has always been about celebrating Africa with intentionality and pride.
In 2016, while serving in NYSC Lagos through the SAED programme, the vision matured. The name BIDHAAR was born — meaning goods in Swahili. That same year, Mariam began her Master’s at prestigious London College of Fashion (LCF), part of University of Arts London (UAL), where BIDHAAR became the heartbeat of her postgraduate research and business strategy.
Our Journey

We’re curating a new cultural economy
BIDHAAR exists to make Black & African-owned brands visible, valuable, and global. We celebrate and elevate creators through curated commerce and cultural storytelling.
Culture
This is our compass, we don’t follow trends, we set them with soul.
Creativity
How we speak truth, spark change, and stay unforgettable.
Curation
We curate with care – for the culture, for the future.
Commerce
We’re not just driving transactions — we’re shifting power through trade.
Community
We exist for, with, and within our people.
This is for the culture. And for you.
You want to buy Black. Shop African. Live rooted.
You want meaning in your wardrobe, pride in your purchases, and beauty in your everyday life.
Whether you’re in Lagos, London, Joburg, Brooklyn, or Accra — this is your house too.
“BIDHAAR isn’t just a store. It’s a statement. It’s a cultural offering — rooted in identity, curated with soul, and built for the future.”
