If you are single but would rather you’re not, I am certain you must have thought about why this is so.
Why is it that you don’t have someone in your life, yet the people around you swim from one relationship to another as a fish does in water?
Asides the fact that true love hasn’t found you yet, there may be some things you are doing that are preventing you from sailing any ship.
1. Having a strict checklist of what your ideal man/woman must look like
Having a type is fine but shutting everybody out because they don’t tick all your boxes is a tad extreme, don’t you think? Sure, don’t force yourself into anything but permit yourself to also be open-minded.
2. Fixating on past toxic relationships
If you left a relationship that got you hurt, it can be difficult to fully move past that but seeing visual reminders of the person who caused it can never make things better. Unfollow. Block. Mute. Do whatever is necessary to keep them out of sight and eventually out of mind.
3. Trying to win the breakup game
You always want your ex to know you’re not feeling bad or you’re doing better than them. They did something, you have to do it better. They hit a milestone, so you need to hit one too and also bigger. Stop trying to win the breakup game!
4. Expecting love to feel like it did last time.
Love will never feel the same way twice. Everyone you meet is different. Even you are evolving. Treat every individual relationship as something new.
5. Spending time around people in unhealthy relationships.
We absorb what surrounds us. If the only examples of relationships you’re seeing are unhealthy, you will most likely model what is in front of you.
6. Being too critical of yourself.
None of us is perfect. We all got issues in ourselves we wish were different. And remember, confidence is sexy. Someone who believes in themselves is far more attractive than someone who doesn’t. Practicing self-love goes a long way.
