Falling in love is an inexplicably beautiful feeling. The butterflies-in-the-belly feeling, late-night texting, dates, shared jokes, intimacy.
However, there are flies in the ointment, too, and you need to conquer some real fears to access the love you want. Here are a few reasons I think might be holding you back from fully embracing true love.
1. You can’t imagine the terrifying idea of being with one person for the rest of your life.
It can be terrifying to imagine spending the rest of your life with one person. This is why we now have numerous socially acceptable options like open relationships and ‘entanglements.’
2. You are a loner.
Falling in love requires you to spend time and energy on someone. If you are an introvert, you will relate – Too much social interaction can be exhausting
3. You have seen other relationships end badly, and you are afraid it will happen to you.
You have seen people change, and partners grow apart. You’ve seen these things happen around you, and you know that to keep your favourite person in the world, you will have to work for it.
4. You find dating difficult.
Dating can be hard, and it’s harder if you are a shy person. Many people resort to dating apps, while physical dating is now more of a shopping activity than the actual bonding to form a long-lasting relationship.
5. You are afraid of losing your identity.
